ELLA BRIL

Young people hold the future. In our series ''FOUR the Future'' we put a spotlight on these young talents and their skills. Meet @Ella.bril, self taught Dutch painter: ‘’Don’t rush the process, good things take time”. 🎨

WHEN DID YOU DECIDE YOU WANTED TO HAVE A CAREER IN ART?

I was always really intrigued by art, and I was drawing and creating stories at a young age. But in the end I chose a completely different career path in marketing. After a while I realized that this wasn’t the right job for me and I became really unhappy.

After a while someone asked me ‘but what is it that you really like to do?’ I said ‘creating’. This was when I picked up a paint brush and bought a huge amount of paint. I started painting and I never stopped.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU LEARNED OVER THE PAST YEARS?

This may sound a bit cringe, but do what makes you happy. Put in the work hours and you’ll see that you will succeed.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

Most of the time I walk around in clothes that are covered in paint, haha. But when I have a day off I like to wear vintage blouses with old-school prints, wide leg trousers and I really love a good suit for women.
IF YOU CAN GIVE AN AMBITIOUS YOUNGSTER SOME WORDS OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

To keep on working on whatever it is what you want to achieve. Don’t rush the process, good things take time.
