WHEN DID YOU DECIDE YOU WANTED TO START MOAK PANCAKES?

Back in the days in 2015 after my holiday, it was time to quit my job at an advertising company and start my own business. My businesspartner and I started in 2016 in the westside of Amsterdam (Clercqstraat) with our restaurant called: ‘Moak Pancakes’. An all day American pancake restaurant, with pancakes in a lot of different and creative ways, a big hip-hop theme, cool collabs (Daily Paper) and a very relaxed vibe.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU LEARNED OVER THE YEARS?

My biggest lesson would be to never ever give up. Really corny, I know. But before I even opened the place, there were so many setbacks. Finding a good businesspartner, location, getting the finances, permits etc. It’s hard to keep going at moments, but when everything turns out the right way, the reward and happy feeling is priceless.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

It’s a mix of things, just depends on my mood and what the plan is for that day. I like to combine high-end fashion with a nice vintage jacket, or something not everybody would wear. I like to try new outfits and see what works for me. Some days it’s all black, other days I’m fully in color.

IF YOU CAN GIVE AMBITIOUS YOUNGSTERS SOME WORDS OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Give yourself some time to grow and start lean with your business. We also grew our companies step by step, year by year with the profits we made.
