Algerian-born French designer Yves Saint Laurent founded his namesake couture house in 1961, pioneering luxury ready-to-wear in his 1966 “Rive Gauche” collection and setting a standard of youth and freedom expressed with elegance that the designer would later carry over to menswear collections. Saint Laurent, now under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello, continues the house’s fusion of refinement and rebellion. Staples of rock style are elevated to an unprecedented standard of luxury: leather motorcycle jackets, distressed denim and biker jeans, slim suits, leather pants, bags and accessories, and the house’s signature Wyatt boots and minimalist court sneakers.
